SLEEPING PART 2: HOW?
Puppies sleep - a lot.
Nemi is of course no exception. It's how she sleeps that never ceases to amaze me.
As long
as she can sleep on someones lap, shoulder, foot, head or any other part of our anatomy,
she may hang upside down, be bendt double
or be squashed between a lap and another dog's bum.
She happily snores on.
We can vacuum, cut her nails, clean her ears or shave her. She sleeps on.
The other day she fell off my lap onto the floor, whereupon
she just shook her head, jumped up again and was asleep about a quarter of a second later.
She can even sleep hanging over my shoulder while I walk around.
However, if she has to sleep alone no position or spot seems comfortable enough.
She twists and turns and moves around, and it seems that any crease in
the blanket needs to be straightened out
(of course this often leaves her bed in complete shambles).
Nemi has eventually realised that cannot always sleep on us,
so she has worked hard to find an acceptable alternative.
She is currently attempting to get our other dog, Mita,
to allow Nemi to sleep on top of her.
This is taking some time, but there is progress.
However, there are frequent setbacks, mostly due to the fact that Nemi finds
that ears, paws and tails
are very tempting to nibble on. Mita on the other hand, understandably
finds sleeping without sharp puppy teeth immersed in her peripherals more
comfortable.
Never one to give up,
nemi has now found a third alternative, and you'll now
find Nemi sleeping with her her paws wrapped around one of her plush toys.
